Policy Proposals

  • The Student Council's duties:
The Student Council (SR) primarily works with local matters belonging to the individual campus. The Student Council vocalize students' interests at campus and promote these to the relevant persons locally and if needed, the Student Parliament nationally. The Student Council is the natural point of contact for the classes through their class representative and is key for matters and challenges that students bring to attention locally. Additionally, the Student Councils are responsible for electing students to positions and committees at campus, and being a consultation body for the Student Parliament and NLA university college.
  • The Student Council's organisation:
Student Councils consists of one class representative and one representative from each class in each of the studyprogrammes at NLA, and is elected for one academic year at a time. The person who is elected as a class representative has both responsibility for being a class representative in relation to their studies, but also sitting as a representative in the Student Council. The Student Council is led by a board, which is elected during the constitutional meeting, and is supplemented in the autumn after the new first-year students arrive. The composition of the board is decided by each individual Student Council, but a leader and deputy leader are the most common composition. The position of leader and deputy leader is remunerated according to agreement with the student parliament. The board prepares matters, has contact with the administration, the academic management, the student parliament and other student organisations.

In addition, the Student Parliament is responsible for electing students to national positions and committees at NLA, and being a consultation body for NLA college.
  • The organization of the Student Parliament:
The student parliament consists of up to 12 members, made up of one representative (member) from each place of study, as well as other members through direct election. These sit for one academic year at a time. The Student Parliament is led by a Working Committee made up of the leader, organizational and political deputy leader, as well as the communications officer. These are elected internally at the constitutional meeting in May. The Work committee's duties and responsibilities are remunerated according to an agreement with the student parliament. The work committee prepares cases for the Student Parliament. The Student Parliament also has its own contact person, Organizatorical adviser at NLA, whose task is to contribute to student democracy at NLA as needed.
